Lawrence County Commission To Convene Tuesday

   Members of the Lawrence County Commission will convene in regular session Tuesday afternoon.

   Commissioners are expected to approve resolutions honoring the Summertown Dixie Softball League Angels Division, and to name a bridge that crosses Bluewater Creek on Littrell Road the Bedford “Buck” Brown Memorial Bridge.

   Commissioners will appoint members to the Lawrence County Public Library Board, approve bonds of local constables, and consider passage of a resolution, “To affirm and support a national movement for no texting while driving called, “It Can Wait National Day of Action.”

   Items of business up for consideration include the appointment of Roger Watson as the Director of Information Technology for Lawrence County government, a change of speed limit on Loretto’s Fairview Road, establishment of a fund to maintain school bus turnarounds within the county, and authorizing the Commission Chairman to appoint one county commissioner to serve as a temporary member of a committee in order to achieve a quorum.

   Commissioners will consider passing a resolution to amend the Lawrence County Beer Ordinance to add a provision stipulating that no permit be issued for the sale of beer within 1,000 feet of any school, church or other place of public gathering.

They will also consider approval of a resolution that would establish committee quorums for the Lawrence County Legislative Body.

   The meeting will get underway at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at the Lawrence County Courthouse.
